Bottesford NHW Alert: Attack and Robbery in Bottesford / Suspicious Behaviour

Attack and Robbery in Bottesford

At about 12.30am last night a lone female returning after a night out was grabbed and thrown to the ground by two males who then went through her pockets and stole a sum of money. The incident occurred near the junction of Albert Street and High Street. If anyone saw anything suspicious in that area at that time or has information about this attack please contact the police on the non-emergency 101 number. Obviously females out alone after dark need to be extra vigilant and careful at this time of heightened risk. Ideally try to walk with a companion if that is possible.

Suspicious Behaviour

We have had two recent reports of suspicious behaviour.

In the first one on Thursday afternoon this week what appeared to be a man with his hood up and a skeleton type mask on (possibly cloth) knocked on the window of a house in Bottesford to get the attention of young children playing in their playroom. He attempted to communicate with the children but ran off when they called for their mother. The man was accompanied by a small white dog. The police are aware. Please inform them if you have any information about this incident or have experienced anything similar.

The second report comes from Stathern where some young males were seen in a house  driveway and were frightened off by a neighbour when he came out of his house to go to work at 5am. They ran to a car and drove off. Subsequently the owner of the house noticed that the connector box to the security lighting at the rear of the property had been damaged and the wires pulled out - so this may have been preparation for a return visit at a later time. The police have been informed. Although this report comes from Stathern please be vigilant in our village. We may be entering one of our periodic “restless” times in the vale so please don’t ignore suspicious behaviour. Reporting it to the police is often the most effective way of disrupting criminal and anti-social behaviour.
